Yeast Starter

Prepare your yeast for wine and cider recipes.

  • Add pint of warm water to quart-sized mason jar. Add one packet of yeast.
  • Wait 1/2 hour for activity.
  • Add pinch of energizer, pinch of nutrient, and 1 Tbsp sugar.
  • Cover the mason jar with tissue and secure with ring.
  • Add pinch of sugar, nutrient, and energizer as often as every half hour over the course of 24 hours.
  • On the last feeding, add small amount of must.
